Mysterious Being - Chapter 1 - alee_writesss - 怪獣8号 (2025)

Chapter Text

Hoshina was returning home after a long day when he heard faint meows coming from a discarded cardboard box by the roadside. Peering inside, he discovered a small, shivering kitten with fur as dark as the night sky. It gazed at him with its pink cautious eyes, as though deciding whether to trust him.

"Hey there, little one ," Hoshina murmured, reaching out carefully. The kitten flinched but didn't run. Taking that as a sign, he gently scooped it up, tucking it inside his jacket to shield it from the cold. He adopted and named it Gen and, over the weeks that followed, the kitten warmed up to him, transforming from a wary stray into a loyal companion.

Life with Gen was a quiet joy. The cat would curl up in his lap while he read, meow indignantly for meals, and even sleep at the foot of his bed every night. Hoshina couldn't imagine his life without Gen.

As time went on, Hoshina began to notice some odd behaviors. Gen started to become clingier, often curling up on top of his used clothes or burrowing into his closet. Whenever Hoshina tried to move him, Gen would let out a soft, stubborn meow and refuse to budge. Hoshina found it adorable and would laugh, giving in to the cat's quirks.

But then, Gen's behavior shifted further. He seemed to eat less than before, leaving his favorite meals half-finished. Hoshina grew concerned, watching as the once-energetic cat spent more time lounging around, staring off into space. He tried offering different foods and even consulted a vet, but nothing seemed physically wrong. Still, a nagging worry settled in his chest.

One fateful night, however, everything changed.

The full moon hung low and bright in the sky, casting a silver glow into Hoshina's bedroom. He stirred awake, sensing something unusual. Squinting in the dim light, he froze. There, lying on his bed, was a stranger—a young man, completely naked except for the pair of feline ears peeking through his dark hair and the fluffy tail curled against his side.

The man was sleeping peacefully, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. Despite the sheer absurdity of the situation, there was an inexplicable sense of familiarity about him. Hoshina’s heart raced as he sat up slowly, his eyes glued to the figure.

No way...

Hoshina instinctively knew it was Gen . His mind reeled with questions, but the first words that left his lips were, "What happened?"

The man stirred, his pink eyes blinking open with a dazed expression as he softly called, "Hoshina." His feline ears twitched, and his tail flicked lightly against the bed. He looked at Hoshina with the same sleepy gaze that Gen often had after waking from a nap.

To Hoshina, he looked like a lost and clueless kitten. Yet, as his gaze scanned Gen’s physique, he noticed things he hadn’t expected. Gen was slightly taller than him, his frame slender yet not as toned as Hoshina’s. His dark hair had two-toned bangs, cutely hiding his striking pink eyes. And those ears… those soft feline ears atop his head and the fluffy tail were undeniably Gen’s.

As Hoshina tried to process everything, Gen suddenly climbed onto him, moving with a familiar grace. He gently rubbed his feline ears against Hoshina’s neck, purring softly. Hoshina shivered at the sensation, his body reacting instinctively to the unexpected intimacy. Heat rushed to his face, and he felt an unfamiliar stirring deep within him. He reflexively grabbed Gen’s waist to steady him, his touch eliciting an even louder purr from Gen.

His mind raced as he tried to keep his composure, but Gen’s sudden movements and closeness were making it difficult. Something about the way Gen clung to him felt both comforting and overwhelming.

After a moment, Hoshina let out a deep breath, his hands gently caressing Gen’s back as the young man continued to purr atop him. "Let’s think about this later," he murmured, his voice softer now. He guided Gen to lie down beside him, brushing his fingers through his hair soothingly.

As the quiet moments stretched on, Hoshina found himself questioning everything. Was this really happening? The surreal nature of it all—the full moon, Gen’s transformation, the warmth of a human figure now lying beside him—made him wonder if he was caught in some kind of dream. He pinched his wrist subtly, half-hoping the sensation would break the illusion, but all it did was confirm that he was awake.

Gen’s purring gradually quieted as he drifted back to sleep, his body relaxing against Hoshina’s. He glanced at the peaceful figure beside him and wondered what tomorrow would bring. The rise and fall of his chest, the soft tufts of his dark hair, and the gentle twitch of his tail—all of it was undeniably real.

Still, it felt impossible. And yet, as he observed the peaceful expression on Gen’s face, he couldn’t deny the strange sense of contentment that settled over him. Dream or not, this was Gen, and that alone made him feel an inexplicable warmth.

As he watched Gen sleep, Hoshina couldn’t help but think about what Gen should wear in the morning. But deep down, he suspected that by the time the sun rose, Gen might shift back to his cat form. Still thinking, it was all a dream. For now, though, he decided to let the mystery rest.

Hoshina felt a numbness in his arm as he stirred awake again. A slight weight pressed against him, and he realized it was still Gen. Fully waking now, Hoshina opened his eyes to see a peaceful, adorable figure sleeping on his arm. He still couldn’t believe what was happening. It wasn’t a dream , he told himself. Almost instinctively, his hand moved to pet Gen’s head, his fingers gently scratching the soft scalp as he thought deeply about the situation.

Hoshina’s movements made Gen stir slightly in his sleep. A soft purr escaped him, followed by a faint whimper, but he continued to sleep.

"Still a sleepyhead, are we?" Hoshina murmured softly, a fond smile tugging at his lips. He couldn’t believe his cat had turned into a human, yet he somehow felt lucky, as if he had found something invaluable and irreplaceable.

His thoughts drifted as he remembered he had an oversized shirt that might fit Gen for now. Until he could buy clothes for him, it would have to do. Hoshina even found himself considering what outfits might look good on Gen. Without realizing it, he was already accepting the idea of living with this mysterious being in his home. But who was he kidding? This wasn’t just some random creature—it was Gen, his cat, a familiar presence he had always known. Even if Gen was now human, he was still the same.

Hoshina’s musings were interrupted when he unconsciously began to play with Gen’s feline ears. His fingers traced their soft curves, eliciting a small squirm and another stir from Gen. Slowly, Gen’s pink eyes fluttered open, still dreamy and half-lidded. Hoshina couldn’t help but adore the sight.

Leaning down slightly, Hoshina placed a gentle kiss on Gen’s forehead—something he often did when Gen was still in his cat form.

"Good morning, Gen. " he greeted softly, his tone warm and affectionate.

Gen hummed in response, the sound sleepy yet content. But what happened next made Hoshina completely wake up. As Gen stretched slightly, he gave Hoshina a kitten-like lick on his lips—a gesture that Hoshina recognized as the catlike morning greeting Gen used to give him. The problem— or maybe not —was that he did it as a human, without whiskers.

Hoshina froze, heat rushing to his face as his entire body went rigid. Gen, seemingly oblivious, nuzzled against Hoshina’s neck and purred, leaving Hoshina red-faced and flustered.

So much had happened that Hoshina’s mind completely short-circuited. Meanwhile, Gen, cluelessly just continued to seek affection, leaving Hoshina to grapple with the overwhelming feelings bubbling inside him.
